Bose House Campus: Some Distinctive Features

Swami Vivekananda envisioned a confluence of India’s ancient Vedantic wisdom and Western scientific temper. Guided by this transformative vision, Bose House Campus has launched a diverse range of courses—online, offline, and hybrid—spanning from Indian Heritage Studies to Skill Development Courses.

Official inauguration of Bose House Campus

  • Employment-Oriented Curriculum: Special emphasis is placed on computer and language training to enhance employability. Courses in Geriatric Care, Social Media Management, and Applied Techniques of Counselling and Psychotherapy are offered, with many participants securing on-campus placement opportunities.

Eminent psychologist Dr. Nilanjana Sanyal is speaking at a seminar organized by Psychological Studies.

  • Mental Health and Well-being: With issues like stress, depression, and anxiety affecting both students and professionals, the campus has introduced Student Counselling courses. With a special emphasis on inclusive education, programmes on Autism assessment and management have been initiated. Personality Development training is also being provided to help students build successful careers.

  • Creative and Performing Arts: Courses in this category foster students' creative growth and open doors to employment opportunities, especially in the field of freelancing.

Classical music classes organized on campus

  • Cultural and Ethical Education: To instill an appreciation of Indian classical heritage and values, the campus offers courses such as: Srimad Bhagavad Gita: Tradition and Modernity, Indian Philosophy: Vedanta, Yoga: Body–Mind Medicine, Householder’s Ideal: Mother Sarada. These courses promote cultural reverence and teach the importance of adjustment in personal spaces, and the value of professional ethics.

  • Internship Programmes: Aligned with National Education Policy (NEP 2020), the campus offers vocational internships in areas like Creativity, Blogging and YouTube Skills, Translation Studies, and the aesthetics of Alpana, a traditional Bengali folk art.

Winter Season - NSS activities

  • Teacher Training: The campus regularly organises teacher training and faculty development pregrammes. Recently, a 15-day teacher training program on Indology and Indian Heritage was successfully organized in collaboration with UGC’s Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC).

  • Workshops and Seminars: Educational and cultural workshops, seminars, and value-based programmes organized at Bose House, significantly contribute to skill development and moral education.

  • Social Outreach: Awareness camps and relief work organized by the NSS (National Service Scheme) unit of Vidyamandira from this campus are playing an active role in fostering social consciousness among students.

On International Mother Language Day, February 21, 2024, during the inauguration, Swami Subiranandaji Maharaj noted that a unique feature of this campus is its co-educational nature. Girls will also be admitted and educated here. Swamiji had said, “A bird has two wings—unless both wings are equally strong and empowered, the bird cannot fly well.” Likewise, society has two wings—men and women. Unless both enjoy equal dignity and empowerment, societal progress remains stunted. Accordingly, the Governing Body of Ramakrishna Mission has decided that this non-residential institution will admit both boys and girls for their overall development and excellence in life.
