Initially, it began as an Intermediate Arts College in 1941. Creating history often requires enduring many long and difficult years. From starting as an Intermediate Arts College, then becoming a three-year degree college in 1966, to achieving autonomous status and being recognized as “A College with Potential for Excellence” by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2010—Vidyamandira’s journey is a testament to how an institution can march confidently on the path of higher education, overcoming numerous challenges. Postgraduate programmes began in the academic year 2006–2007, and in 2013, the Swami Vivekananda Research Centre was established to facilitate multidisciplinary research possibilities. In 2024, the second campus of Vidyamandira, named “Bose House,” was inaugurated.
